What Happened

On March 10, 2026, a lawsuit was filed in Middlesex (MA) County Superior Court by former mortgage loan originator Liane Maldonado against Hanscom Federal Credit Union and its CEO, Peter Rice (Case #2681CV00665). The complaint includes allegations related to employment practices, including claims involving medical leave protections, wage and commission payments, and retaliation.

As with any legal filing, these are allegations that will be evaluated through the court process. Maldonado’s 14-page complaint can be read by the public through the Massachusetts Trial Court website.

Not the First Employee Lawsuit

This is not the first legal dispute involving a former employee of Hanscom Federal Credit Union.

Another former employee, Lisa Quintiliani, earlier filed a District Court lawsuit alleging violations of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). That case also raised questions about how employee medical leave requests were handled.

While each lawsuit involves its own facts and circumstances, multiple employee complaints can naturally lead members to wonder whether broader workplace or governance issues may be involved.

Concerns Raised With Federal Regulators

In addition to lawsuits, members of the Hanscom Loyal community have been submitting complaints for several years to the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), the government agency responsible for overseeing federally chartered credit unions.

These complaints have asked regulators to review concerns related to management practices, governance, and regulatory compliance at the credit union.

Why Transparency Matters

Credit unions are unique financial institutions because they’re owned by their members. That structure depends on transparency, accountability, and trust between leadership and members.

When concerns arise, whether through lawsuits, regulatory complaints, or employee reports, it’s important for members to be informed so they can understand what is happening within their credit union.

Hanscom Loyal exists to share information with Hanscom Federal Credit Union members and encourage open discussion about issues that affect this institution we all own.

What Happens Next

The Maldonado case will now proceed through the Massachusetts court system. As the legal process moves forward, additional information will become available through court filings and proceedings.

Hanscom Loyal will continue to monitor developments and share updates with members as they occur.
